xmonad configuration not responding to keyboard shortcuts

Hello,
Running xmonad 0.9.2

This configuration has been running just fine for a while now: http://ideone.com/dTxgt
I'm trying to switch to this one: http://www.haskell.org/haskellwiki/Xmon … _xmonad.hs (made for xmonad 0.8)

Simply edited mod4Mask to mod1Mask (to use L_Alt).
It loads up fine with no errors and xmobar works right.

I'm unable to use any key shortcuts though. I'm clueless with haskell though so any help would be appreciated.
I tried setting XMonad.modmask with same results.
