hplip drivers and maximum print resolution---clippled PPDs?

For the last 2 years or so, hplip cannot detect and list my printer's maximum print resolution (1200x1200). Older versions of hplip were able to do that. The printer is HP C6380 All in One. Also, even though I should have the option to choose between the hpijs and hpcups driver from the hplip setup dialog, the setup chooses hpijs. When I use the cups setup interface, I can choose the hpcups driver, but then the resolution options are quite different and are not listed as numbers (600x600, 1200x1200, etc).
Any ideas are welcome.

Re: hplip drivers and maximum print resolution---clippled PPDs?

Update:

So, I started looking at the ppds provided by the hplip package and, to my surprise, all the PPDs for the Photosmart Cxxxx series do not include the high quality 1200 option. I have already posted a relative question to the hplip launchpad site, but I thought I should ask here for advice/information about how I can modify manually my printer's ppd to include this option.

TIA
