how do i make oxygen-gtk work? [SOLVED]

I've installed oxygen-gtk, but I can't see any options for enabling it in System Settings. A google search has proved unilluminating, and I'm not finding instructions in the wiki, either. How do I make this work?

Install gtk-kde4, then an entry "GTK style" should show up in systemsettings.

Okay, installed that, but it doesn't seem to actually be working. I selected "use current kde style"... but no cahnge in appearance. Is there something extra I have to do?

gtk-kde4 is crap, use something like gtk-chtheme or chakra-gtk-config

I installed both those packages; can you point me towards config instructions?

First, I assume you uninstalled gtk-kde4.
Second, "or" means you install either one or the other but not both.

gtk-chtheme: maybe just run gtk-chtheme and select oxygen-gtk????????
OR
chakra-gtk-config: it's a KCM, you can find it in system settings->application appearance->gtk config
and select oxygen-gtk????????

You have to select oxygen-gtk in "select style" menu.

Those aren't showing up... maybe because i shouldn't have installed them all at once? I'll ditch two of them and get back to you.

This is just not my day. I've tried all three, each with the other two uninstalled, and I can't see any difference in the appearance of my apps. What am I missing here?

I guess it needs a logout > login of kde to work.

Sighhh... no good. I've tried both Libreoffice and Gimp (the only GTK apps I'm running) and I see no difference at all.

Re: how do i make oxygen-gtk work? [SOLVED]

When I run gtk-chtheme, I get this:

(gtk-chtheme:5578): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: plugin 'oxygen-gtk' failed to register type 'OxygenStyle'

Did you install from [community], or from AUR?  The packages in the repos were commited before the upgrade to KDE 4.6.  The packages in AUR are git pulls, and so will be more recent, and work fine for me. You could try one of those.  If you choose to go with the AUR package, note that "oxygen-gtk-git" is marked as out-of-date;  however, you can just change the PKGBUILD as noted in the comments section of the page.

Hadn't thought of that. Will install latest versions and report back.
