Xfce 4.8: Sessions not restored properly

Every time I'm starting my Xfce 4.8 desktop, many of the programs that were running during the last session are not restarted again; for example, Firefox, Terminal, or Orage. ROX windows show up, but doubled, and with its panel suddenly enabled. Some other programs, like Thunar and ClawsMail, seem to get restored normally.

Looking at Xfce's session dialog shows me that the missing programs actually are never listed for the current session (although running), and hence won't be saved/restored on next startup.

I've already tried some things related to sessions, like deleting ~/.cache/sessions/*, or temporal removing ~/.config/xfce4/, but no luck.

I'm usually starting Xfce via .xinitrc:

exec ck-launch-session startxfce4

dbus is running via /etc/rc.conf.

Any ideas or hints how to fix this?

Thanks.
