(SOLVED) tearing and slow down?

I can't quite explain what is going on-- but after some of the newer updates (chromium and flash) I seem to be getting tearing or lag when moving the mouse quickly in the browser. Also, when I mouse scroll up and down youtube pages that display a video, the movie frame kind of lags behind in an awkward way.

Anyone notice this?

edit:

I seem to be getting very large system cpu usage when loading pages, and especially java intensive pages. To the point where my mouse lags. Now I am thinking this isn't Chrome or the flash plugin's problem.. ideas?

edit 2:

I use the BFS+BFQ patched kernel. Maybe something went wrong last update? I really hate tracking down oddities...

Do you have the same problems when using another browser? If it is the kernel, I would expect it to happen with other browsers too.

Re: (SOLVED) tearing and slow down?

I did some testing with vimprobable and it appears to do it too but to a lesser extent. It does seem to do it more with Java pages and hefty flash pages like 1080 Youtube videos. I tend to open 3~4 browsers and have a few tabs in them.

All I know is it didn't do this before, so something must be up. It really bothers me when I move my mouse and watch it skip 3 inches while the system is doing something.

I think it may be the 1080 videos downloading/saving to the filesystem.. what else would cause heavy system usage from a browser?

The only way to find out is probably to eliminate possible causes. Coming here and asking people 'why is my computer slow?' will usually not provide you with better answers than the ones you could have cooked up yourself..

Re: (SOLVED) tearing and slow down?

Alrighty, at first I was thinking it was just the flash plugin but further testing lead me to think it could be something else. My bad-- will test more before coming back.

Thanks~
