Flash Back

It seems on my system, the Flash Plugin is not working. I followed the installation routine on Flash download website but mine is not working. When I check Mozilla's Help, About Plug-ins, Flash does not show up.

Installation
To install the Plug-in Player for Linux:
Note: This installer is script-based and cannot be run from a GUI. 1  Uncompress install_flash_player_6_linux.tar.gz.  A directory called install_flash_player_6_linux is created.  Navigate to this directory.

2  From the command line, type ./flashplayer-installer to run the installer.  The installer will instruct you to shut down your browser(s).

3 Once the installation is complete, the plug-in will be installed in your Mozilla browser.  To verify, choose Help > About Plug-ins from the browser's menu.

I see two files in my user .mozilla/plugins directory

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thnx.

Re: Flash Back

I've never installed a Mozilla plugin on a per user basis. To install it system wide copy the libflashplayer.so file from ~/.mozilla/plugsin to /opt/mozilla/lib/mozilla/plugins and restart your browser and it should show up in about:plugins.

Re: Flash Back

Well I tried all suggestions and Flash still not working for some reason. Doing the pacman -S flashplugin command say it's not in the db.

Anymore suggestions?

Thnx.

Do you have the unofficial repository enabled in /etc/pacman.conf?

Re: Flash Back

no not necessarily you may need to run pacman -Sy first to resyn with the database.

if not then you will have use abs to build the package. may i also suggest that you make ftp.archlinux.org serer the first in you list of servers.

i don't know why you have been having trouble with your db syncing.

Re: Flash Back

I have no idea why it have problems with some things and some don't. I didn't have any errors/problems when I first installed AL.

Other then getting some programs to install, its running great! I'm using it on a daily basis now!  big_smile

Re: Flash Back

neat! well anyway i don't think you need to make a whole new package just use abs to "rebuild" the package and then install it with pacman -A.

(one other thing before you do that though try doing pacman -Ss flash to see if you get any sort of hit. maybe it was such a subtle typo that you did not notice it)
