soliciting an excited emacs perspective

Why emacs (or any other editor actually)? Or better, what demo would you use to sell it to someone else?

I want emacs to be exciting; I want to see my understanding of a task be fundamentally altered. Learning vim was this way.
I understand what is exciting about vim. When I try emacs, I don't yet get it.

Thanks for the perspective!

I would watch this screencast about org-mode if you haven't heard of it yet, http://orgmode.org/talks/GoogleTech.html.  Org-mode is something that once you start using it's hard to give up.
