Seagate Expansion drive

I've just bought Seagate Expansion Portable 500GB Hard Drive and can't umount it safely, because disk is spinning. I think, if this will continue, the disk will be definitely damaged.

Any ideas?

Re: Seagate Expansion drive

I'm not getting errors, just when I unplug disk, it makes terrible sound, like it crashed. Under win XP, the green indicator turns off and disks slow down.

Re: Seagate Expansion drive

I have the same model. To unmount I give safely remove from the panel on the left without any problem. If I try to unmount directly from the folder of the drive I have:

Unable to stop drive
This file cannot be stopped
