Error when starting X as user:

Folks Ive created another user as the profile of my old one seem to have been corrupted and now i get the following error: Cannot move old log file "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" to "/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old". How should I proceed?

Re: Error when starting X as user:

Is your new user part of the "log" group?

No he is not why should he be? I tough someone in such group could also edit logs what would not be right to allow for a ordinary user.

Re: Error when starting X as user:

Sorry my fault - Xorg.0.log is "root:users". Most others are "root:log" here.

So, just for completeness, is the new user in the "users" group, as it looks like Xorg has no rights to write the Xorg.0.log.old file.

Is there a Xorg.0.log.old file already? Who owns it?
