Hi there!
I'm having a major problem with running Java plugin on all of my browsers (Opera, Chromium and Firefox) under my Arch Linux 64-bit system. The system is fully up-to-date, and Java plugin is being displayed among other plugins on "about:plugins" screen. The Java Environment was installed from Community
[zbyszek@barca ~]$ yaourt -Qs jre
community/jre 6u24-1
Sun/Oracle's Java Runtime Environment
Any ideas how to solve this?

when you installed the package did pacman said that the permission is differnt on filesystem vs package?
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

No, I haven't noticed any specific information from Pacman. In fact I reinstalled jre package one or two times, but it didn't help.

echo $MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH and check the permission on the dir (and parent) while you are at it. (Also, did you log out/in after installing jre?)

Hi,
Maybe (just maybe, dont shoot me afterwards ) this link can help:

Symlinking with command
ln -s /opt/java/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so /home/zbyszek/.mozilla/plugins/
didn't help at all. Firefox or Opera now hang while trying to verify Java version.

rm the symlink and try to reinstall jre and jdk
And check the permission on the plugins dir.

I tried that already, nothing has changed.
Of which plugins directory exactly you want me to check permission? In my system there are several.
