pacman -Syu not updating everything?

I noticed recently that "pacman -Syu" did not update totem fro 1.0.1 to 1.0.1-1. I just happened to notice that... I hope that there aren't other things pacman isn't updating as well... though this is already an issue.
I havent found anything simillar in the forum archives...

Oh, I'm also getting this whenever using pacman for anything:
sudo pacman -Syu
config: line 10: syntax error
:: Synchronizing package databases...
etc...

Ive looked at pacman.conf and that line is empty ...

Re: pacman -Syu not updating everything?

1.0.1 is totem version and -1 is arch release version (the version number for a package file).

Post your /etc/pacman.conf please. We can't just guess what else might be wrong. You might also check this file for extra nonvisible characters in this line (other than space - if you are copy-pasting things from the forums for example it can happen sometimes).

Re: pacman -Syu not updating everything?

Hmmm. I've just noticed that you're running pacman through sudo. Could this error come from sudo config not pacman ? (/etc/sudoers ?). Maybe try su first and then run pacman if you are not sure.

BTW: I hope you understand that you have totem already updated and what the release number means.

Re: pacman -Syu not updating everything?

No I have run pacman as su as well as through sudo. I get the same config error.
And yes I understand pkgrel, I do make my own packages quite often.

8)
Then I'm also sure you're using the latest pacman from current (not some selfcompiled version etc.)?

What about files included from /etc/pacman.d/ ?
I can't see anything wrong in your /etc/pacman.conf...

And by "not telling it to", you used the -w switch at the console? Because if you do not do nano -w filename then it WILL wrap by default.

Re: pacman -Syu not updating everything?

It won't if you add set nowrap to your /etc/nanorc :-)

On a related note, I've been noticing that with a lot of package upgrades, there are mysteriously some files that don't get extracted an installed... that's kinda odd...

The suggestion box only accepts patches.

It's probably due to a pacman bug that affects packages where files change package. (Task#2332 bug tracker) That Why it was recommanded to remove KDE 3.3 before installing 3.4
