I'm using GNOME and I have never heard the login sound so far. Since the setup, only thing I hear when I start X is just a weird buzz. Even through I disabled the login sound from startup applications, it's still there. I checked the command and found this:
$ /usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="desktop-login" --description="GNOME Login"
I ran the command, hoping it will give an error, but got this instead:
Failed to play sound: File or data not found
What should I do?

because sound-theme-freedesktop upstream devs dropped the login sound,
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/sound-theme … c863b2034a
if you want you can downgrade to 0.6

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

I don't really want the sound, I just want to stop the noise. How can I stop it?
