Hello,
I have problem with my Lenovo Y530 4.1 speakers - only two of them works. According to solutions on Arch wiki and other distros forums all to do is to add a line in modprobe.conf:
options snd-hda-intel model=lenovo-sky
On my laptop it doesn't work. Switches in alsamixer and pulse audio volume control tool are active but there is no sound coming from speakers. I've tried with other model names like "3stack-6ch" or "dell-3stack" and result is the same. I can get center speakers working if I'll place "auto" as a model name or if I'll remove this line.
It seems to be a pretty common problem but still, I didn't find a solution. On Linux Mint Debian Edition, which I've been using a couple of days ago it worked flawlessly. Did someone fix it on Arch?
Best regards!

Yes I did. Two speakers works untill I put a lenovo-sky in modprobe.conf. Furthermore, modules are loaded and alsamixer allows me to change volume and unmute channels but there is no sound coming from speakers.

how do you test 4.1 sound ?

Somehow "alsaconf" doesn't find my soundcard, but correct module (which is snd_hda_intel) is being loaded at system boot. According to ArchWiki:
Do not use alsaconf if you have a PCI or ISAPNP sound card, as the entries alsaconf adds to the modprobe.conf file might break udev's autodetection.
And for speaker test:
[bartek@arch ~]$ speaker-test -c6
speaker-test 1.0.24.2
Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz)
Buffer size range from 32 to 349525
Period size range from 10 to 116509
Using max buffer size 349524
Periods = 4
was set period_size = 87381
was set buffer_size = 349524
0 - Front Left
4 - Center
1 - Front Right
3 - Rear Right
2 - Rear Left
5 - LFE
Time per period = 11,586643

because in a laptop audio card is inside the mobo, so isn't PCI or ISAPNP you must run alsaconf
so do it

As I said it doesn't find my soundcard:
No supported PnP or PCI card found.
Would you like to probe legacy ISA sound card/chips?
And than
No legacy drivers are available.

I've found a solution! All You have to do is to apply patches for alsa-driver available here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/662009 (need to scroll down). There is a typo in a first patch so You have to edit file manually. Than compile, remove option line from modprobe.conf, reboot and set alsamixer levels. Works like a charm here!
