Flaky udev/evdev

I have a Macbook Air 3,3, udev seems to have difficulty dynamically loading the keyboard and touchpad support. When i explicitly include their modules in mkinitcpio i end up with a working setup in X, but when i leave them to be autodetected it's a 50/50 hit or mis; either they work or they don't get detected at all, resulting in a not working touchpad and missing keyboard functions.

Is this a udev bug? Is it worth discussing here or reporting on flyspray, or is this something for upstream?
