Intel Graphics - Brightness Halves After Inactivity

After a period of inactivity, my laptop's screen goes off. When I press a key or interact with the mouse, it lights up again, but its brightness has halved between the two events.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem, plus the OSD doesn't show up when increasing brightness (but it shows up when decreasing it). Most probably you are using KDE 4.6, right? I've seen these bugs in KDE's bugtracker, so hopefully they will get fixed soon. For the time being, logging out and in again should fix it, or just change your screen's power management options.
