I was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the recent builds of cmus.
I use alsa. Setting the output plugin as alsa no longer works (even though everything else seems to play nice with alsa) giving the error
Error: opening audio device: No such file or directory
So I set it to the ao plugin (I frankly don't know what that corresponds to) after going through the list of plugins as per documentation, and that works, but cmus then takes exclusive control over sound (no mixing), which is quite annoying. Also, every time cmus is launched I get this error:
ERROR: Failed to load plugin /usr/lib/ao/plugins-4/libalsa.so => dlopen() failed
Any ideas?

Check if the following two options are set:
output_plugin [pulse, alsa, arts, oss, sun]
Name of output plugin.
dsp.alsa.device
PCM device for ALSA plugin, usually "default".
Probably other (or bad) values in the current default configuration.

Thanks, 'dsp.alsa.device' had no value.
