That layout is known as "(@) spiral". I use dwm-sprinkles from AUR which contains a lot of different patches. You might want to take PKGBUILD from that AUR link and modify "config.def.h" file and compile it to your liking.

Sure thing.  I'm actually new to MPD in general (just set this up four days ago), so you might have to clean this up a bit; I'm still tweaking it myself, trying to get the track switch/crossfade to work the way I'd like it to.
