KDM Problem.

Hello.
First of all I wish to introduce myself. Users always ask to solve our problems without even presenting us... smile
My name is Alex (from Cuba), and my job is to manage networks. I'm using GNU / Linux for about 3 years, I used Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Mandriva, and some others.

Today I installed Arch, I managed to install without much trouble, I installed KDE with the basics, but presented a problem:
I can not make KDM starts, I searched through this forum but I have not managed to resolve this problem.

# /etc/rc.d/kdm start =
: : Starting KDE Desktop Manager       [Done]

KDM apparently started well, but the graphics terminal ([Ctrl]+[Alt]+[F7]) do not show up.

When I check the KDM log (/var/log/kdm.log) I find it empty. o.0

If I check the log /var/log/errors.log I find some interesting lines:
X server "/usr/bin/X" cannot be executed
X server for display :0 cannot be started, session disabled

I do not know what else could put to help them, and then you can help me.
Would appreciate any help, track, detail. Surely the solution is not complex, but I have only been using Arch 1 day (hours actually)

Best Regards.

PS: If I placed the subject in the wrong forum, I apologize.

Re: KDM Problem.

Welcome to Arch.  If starting from the console,  try running "kdm" as root.  If you wish to run kdm as a demon, place in the appropriate line in /etc/rc.conf.  You can also alter /etc/inittab to start kdm automatically.  More info on this can be found in the wiki.

Re: KDM Problem.

I think that altering /etc/inittab is the best solution. Also try searching through the forums, I'm pretty shure this problems was once before mentioned.

Re: KDM Problem.

Perhaps you should not jump directly in to debugging kdm.

Can you start Xorg by issuing a startx command ?
