Sony Vaio Motion Eye

Hi everyone,

I am having difficulties configuring my webcam on my Sony VGN-FW580J (running Arch linux).

lsusb shows the device

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05ca:183d Ricoh Co., Ltd Sony Vaio Integrated Webcam

There seems to be support through the uvcvideo kernel driver, but I have not gotten it to work (tried modprobe).  Does anyone have any advice or experience with this?

Thank you in advance!

Doesn't dmesg show you if a /dev/ gets created? Modprobe isn't useful if the device is recognized already. If a device gets created you might just need to run a video-player to get it working

Hi,
Try a way I posted in this thread
or there's a package in AUR.
My webcam works well in Cheese and Skype.
Cheers and good luck

Hi folletto,
When I ran sudo ./loader, I got:

Searching for device...

Error: Failed to find any supported webcams.
