VLC acting strange

Hello all,
I noticed this evening that when I watch videos - not all but more than one atleast - VLC very quickly connects to a website - the connection flashes up for a second on Conky. The IP address is 80.246.178.110. It leads to a website called TVRage.com which appears to be a legit site. Has anyone else noticed this happening? and more importantly why is it doing this? Google has as of yet revealed anything of use.

I think the info is shown in Tools -> Media Information -> Extra Metadata
