Hi there!
From the title you can see that I'm having some trouble playing Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. It performs not has good as I would expect. My laptop is a fairly powerfull machine (a Turion X2 processor running at 1.6Ghz, 4GB of ram and a HD4330 Mobility Radeon graphics card), and ET is a fairly old game. I'm using the proprietary driver, as the open source one wouldn't let me play at all! I'm getting arround 10-15, occasionally 30 fps, at 800x600, with everything on low, in the other hand, Urban Terror for example, performs just fine, getting around 50-70 fps, at the native resolution (1366x768) and with the settings at medium! Also, I disable the desktop animations when I'm playing. There's obviously something wrong...
Any ideas about this??

It works fine here so persevere. Anything odd show up when you run it from a terminal?

What about the driver? Which one are you using?

I don't recall anything odd showing up in the terminal, but when I get home I'll try it.

I'm using fgrlx, the latest one, installed from the catalyst repo. The open source driver performed even worse, getting around 2/3 fps The funny thing is everything else that depends on the gpu works just fine
