[SOLVED] Strange problem with GNOME

I just installed KDE on my system. I already have GNOME installed. Now, whenever I try to open my home folder in GNOME from the places menu, it opens with filelight which is a part of KDEutils. I uninstalled KDEutils but now it says that Could not open /home/hellknight. Failed to execute child process. Filelight (no such file or directory). But when I click on Computer in places, it works well. Help me out..

Re: [SOLVED] Strange problem with GNOME

Also, I tried to install opera by downloading it from Opera site, extracting it & then installing it via the Install script. Now, it doesn't uninstalls.. could this be the culprit?

Opera is in the [community] repo, have you tried installing it with:

pacman -Sy opera

To uninstall the version you downloaded from their website, the installer "most likely" placed it into /opt/opera, i could be wrong... but if it is the case, you can usually just delete the folder in /opt

You'd have to double check though.

Re: [SOLVED] Strange problem with GNOME

Uninstalled opera.. was installed in my ~/.local/bin directory.. I had to go their via terminal and then run the uninstall script.. also, I switched to KDE completely, but the problem with GNOME is still not solved..

Re: [SOLVED] Strange problem with GNOME

Never mind.. solved it via deleting .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconf2 directories and then reinstalling gdm & gnome-panel.. Thanks for your help Cosmin, the "open-with" tab was restored after doing this..
