how to programming for hardware drivers?

hi
i have an old laptab and my driver  alittle poor.
i want to program its drivers,what language programming i need and what book can help me?

Aren't you underestimating programming a little bit?
How are you suppose to program a hardware driver when you don't even know how and where to get the skill?

i know c,C++ and a little asembly.and i was learning how to driver programming.for example mobile pc suite or pc modem...
