Since some time ago, after some upgrade I did, now every time I make a playing FLAC file jump (seeking), makes my player crash.
Sometimes I can seek inside the track once or twice before a crash, it is not always in the first one.
Happening to me with Rhythmbox (results in a segmentation fault) and with Exaile too.
I guess it has something to do with a FLAC decoder update??
Has anyone had this issue already?

Erh... Did you try reinstalling packages, like : flac, gstreamer0.10-good-plugins ?

Yes I did it, I don’t see why it should fix it anyway... if it is not an upgrade.
Some gstreamer packages I have:
gstreamer0.10-0.10.32-1
gstreamer0.10-good-0.10.27-2
gstreamer0.10-good-plugins-0.10.27-2
And just upgraded: flac-1.2.1-1, 1 → 2.
But the issue is still present.
With Rhythmbox I used to get a segmentation fault, now with Exaile, it just freezes forever. I just have to close it.
Is there any other way to get any notion of what is actually failing?

Anyone?

Exaile works OK here.

Do you get any error messages when you run exaile from a terminal?
These are the gstreamer packages I've got installed. Maybe one or more of them will help you.
gstreamer0.10
gstreamer0.10-bad
gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins
gstreamer0.10-base
gstreamer0.10-base-plugins
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
gstreamer0.10-good
gstreamer0.10-good-plugins
gstreamer0.10-python
gstreamer0.10-ugly
gstreamer0.10-ugly-plugins

I have got all of them, and same versions.
What happens if I run Exaile from terminal, absolutely nothing. It just crashes.
Well, I have found something interesting... Not all the FLAC files make it crash.
Here is the one that makes Exaile (and Rhythmbox too) crash when doing too much seeking while playing.

Alexmar, you should probably use a debugger like GDB to make a backtrace of one of the crashes and report it to the upstream developers. Or if you don't care specifically about Exaile and Rhythmbox, you can try Audacious, which doesn't seem to have the same problem.

Hey guys, I encounter the very same problem with Banshee... But I didn't notice it with Rhythmbox :-) (using the testing repo for GNOME 3)
After seeking a couple of times within a flac file, banshee eventually hangs.
If I find some time in the following days, I'll try to help debug the issue. Maybe someone found a workaround meanwhile ?

I'm experiencing issues with amarok or bangarang as well
Let's hope we find the problem

Hmm, it also occurs with Kubuntu Natty + Phonon GStreamer Amarok... (hangs after seeking a couple of times)
And also in Ubuntu Natty + GStreamer + Banshee :-) (not in Maverick)

I finally decided to report the bug upstream : https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=648859
This is a pretty bad one, as it even affects the latest version of the most mainstream distro...
Can you guys please add comments / votes / additional pieces of information / test cases ?
Thanks :-)

FYI : when using the gstreamer development PPA under Ubuntu Natty, the issue disappears...
