[SOLVED] Issues with PhotoRec (part of the TestDisk package)

8k0TA.png

The partition wasn't mounted or anything. I even tried on my second HDD, which isn't mounted, doesn't have an OS installed and is used solely for backup purposes.

Even after I select the file extensions to look for and choose "b" to save the list, it crashes.

I have tried using the "Low memory" as per the "Step by Step guide".

Has anyone experienced this issue ? Should I try compiling it from source ?

PS: I'm using the latest version (from the official repo)... May 2009. That's so old ! Is this project abandoned ?

Edit: Apparently someone else had the same problem: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/23297

Now I just have to downgrade the "ncurses" package... Heh, my first downgrading experience with Arch.

Solved.

Got the pre-latest ncurses version (ncurses-5.7-4-i686.pkg.tar.xz) and ran sudo pacman -U path_to_*.xz.

I have made a personal commitment not to reply in topics that start with a lowercase letter. Proper grammar and punctuation is a sign of respect, and if you do not show any, you will NOT receive any help (at least not from me).
