ivtv - mpeg2 capture card driver
faad2 - official package + extra headers that the pkg didn't include
fftw2 - official package - 1 major version, for mythmusic compatibility
lirc - this is the official package, with added group=pvr line
mplayer-lirc - this is the official package, but with LIRC support
mysql - this is the official package, but with a bugfix that hasn't made it into the official package yet (fixes mythtv segfaults)
mythdvd - DVD playback package for mythtv
mythmusic - Music playback package for mythtv, v2 for aac and faad2
mythnews - RSS newsreader for mythtv
mythtv - official package, but with ALSA support
mythweather - weather channel website ripper for mythtv
perl-xml-simple - not part of the pvr group, but needed by mythvideo's imdb.pl movie data lookup and some other perl scripts that do data grabbing

I will be writing up a MythTV PVR howto for Arch and posting it on that site I'm using for hosting. I'll also add it to the Wiki. It'll have information on all the things that I've set up, and configuration files, and other good information.
Anybody that is attempting to undertake this project now should use my mysql package. The official mysql package has a crippling charset bug. The devteam knows about it and will be correcting it. This version already has the fix.
I've also included an older version of fftw, 2.1.5, because mythmusic uses rfftw.h, which isn't included in fftw 3.0.1. Hopefully the next release of mythmusic gets that sorted out. mythmusic-0.17-3 uses the fftw2 package.
Offline
Updated mythmusic with faad2 and aac.
Offline
Updated mythmusic with fftw2 for visualizations. Added fftw2 to the "repository".

I just wanted to thank you for the work you're doing. I'm planning on setting up a myth box this summer.

nice work man. i might even try and make myself and Archie Myth iso that should be cool enough...
Offline
Updated mythtv to 0.17-2, removing XvMC support to increase compatibility. This was only useful to people on low end EPIA class computers anyway, so there was no reason keeping that on an arch package.
Offline
MythTV 0.18 released today, working on packages now.
Offline
OK, the binaries are posted. I'll get the PKGBUILDS up tomorrow afternoon. Anybody seriously itching to use 0.18 can do so.
Offline
Great work!
Offline
Thank you! All of the packages are posted up in the AUR, except faad2 and mysql - because they have official and [current] counterparts.
Anybody looking to install mythtv will still need to use them.
Offline
Just got a pvr-250, can't find ivtv package in the AUR anywhere. I'm off to try the PKGBUILDS.
Offline
Right, installed them, then took ages finding the bloody module!
I'm such an idiot, I didn't run depmod -a!
So for anyone searching for pvr 250 ivtv module /dev/video0 device, that's what you need to
Now just to get the thing working....

Hmm, doesn't work at all.
For some reason the tv_grab_uk_rt doesn't work and does not compile.
This is the most annoying thing in the world, £70 on a supposedly supported TV card, and it's absolutely fucked.
Ideas...?
You may want to explicitly give PREFIX to work around MakeMaker bugs.

Should be able to perl install that. I'll see about a PKGBUILD for that tomorrow or the day after.
This has nothing to do with the PVR card though...
Offline
I'm quite sure the card itself works, as (as I mentioned in my latest pm) I've seen a bit of TV briefly and I can watch static (yay!).
All I need is some channel info. I've tried the MythTV way.... far, far too complicated. I can't use scantv because it tries to use the 'Television' input on the card, which of course doesn't exist. It then spits out legal options, but does NOT allow you to change the one you want to use?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?
So, can't do that. Tried reading some mythtv forums, seems every method is different. It's just my luck I think.... but I HAVE to get it working

Seems to need yet more perl modules. Damn the perl modules.
In any case, I've made perlvideofrequencies and perlvideoivtv, but they need some cleaning up, as well as a couple more modules.
If you're impatient to get this working, you can always CPAN video::frequencies, video::ivtv, and config::inifiles (I think that's all you need at this point)
I didn't think I included the .pl tools in the package...
Offline
Sorted the Perl modules using some CPAN interface or something, as per a wiki page I'll find in a minute.
Do I need to install those other modules? video::ivtv etc?
Thanks

OK, I can kind of get S4C now! So I guess I'm on the right input, and the right tuner... could it perhaps be the wrong tuner causing crappy picture?
Anyway, it could also be because I've chosen the wrong transmitters, so I was trying to get that ptune.pl working. I've never used CPAN before, but I just tried install video::frequencies - that worked, but now I'm getting a wrong version error, i.e. it wants frequencies v0.03 and i can only get v0.01....
Getting somewhere though!
Offline
Ptune now works, I still need Video::Frequencies 0.03 though for ptune-ui. I've installed it manually from tar.gz, but apparently 0.01 is still installed.... hmmmm
Offline
just download the tarball, extract it, execute the makefile script, then make, make install it. It worked for me.
I'm having some problems getting it as a package though, because it wants to overwrite the perllocal file... I should have time to work on that later. I'm at the lab right now.
Offline
YAAAY!!!!
Had to delete my old Video-Frequencies.pm (NOT Video::Frequencies.pm - that didn't exist), then make install v 0.03.
Then I could play about with tuning the channels, turned out I had all the wrong IDs wrong.
So, now I can get 3 channels nicely, 4th needs some tuning, but recording works, and it's all good! I think...
Now I just need some cash to get a 150Gb hard drive
Cheers klep, for the help, and for making the packages in the first place! Took some doing, but worth it in the end
Cheers,
T

And incidentally, there was no extra tweaking involved at all as far as tuner types etc where concerned. I think I jused used the one that was given in the ivtv output, and it automatically set me to PAL etc etc

Mythtv is by no means a project for those unwilling to tinker.
As for the :: thing, that's how you google for it... being how modules for perl are usually denoted, by group::name.
Glad to hear it's working for you!
Btw, the ivtv drivers are up to 0.3.3h now.

Hmmmm
Recorded my first shows last night, was excellent apart from one thing. Sometimes when I change channel, I get a black flickering line at the top of the screen. If I change channels a few times, it disappears. It seems to happen randomly, and last night both the recordings had the flickering.
I can't find anything about it around google, thinking maybe it could be some of my hardware causing interference or something? But then why would it happen only sometimes.... no idea.
Got some java coursework to be doing so I'll have to take a look at it later...
