How to view PSU info in shell?

I tried this link: http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/querying- … rompt.html

Using dmidecode --39 only gives this:

> sudo dmidecode --type 39
# dmidecode 2.11
SMBIOS 2.4 present.

No info about the PSU. I have sensors working but nothing about the PSU in there. I'd just like to view the PSU's brand, wattage, any details, in shell if possible.

Thanks for any help!

Unless you have a laptop, your power supply just has power cables connecting it to various components. You aren't going to be able to get any info from the commandline - why not just open up your case?

Re: How to view PSU info in shell?

It appears as though your BIOS is unable to provide dmidecode with that info. If you run "sudo dmidecode -t" it will tell you the information types it is capable of extracting. On mine, as yours power supply info is unavailable.

If you have a desktop the easiest way to find out about your PS is to look at its internal label. You might have to remove it to do this, but often not.

Yeah I should've guessed it couldn't supply info to the board, no biggie was just curious. Will check the actual unit smile
