Is there a way to get only english results when checking a random wiki page?
When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane I say.

AFAIK no.

bummer, sort of defeats the purpose of having a 'random' if half of the pages you get are in a language you don't understand

It's the same if you search for something: you get many pages in other-than-English language.
Some languages (French, German, Polish) have their own wikis and don't "clutter" the main wiki.

Yes, this is one heck of a necro-bump, but has there been anything new on this? I love looking at random pages on the wiki and am plagued by the same issue. How does Wikipedia manage that? Separate sites?

Sorry for replying to a necro-bump, but now the thread is bumped anyway, so at least I think I can give an answer before it's closed (EDIT: please next time start a new thread and link to the old one, if needed, see here). Yes, the various localizations of Wikipedia are different, separate installations of MediaWiki (i.e. separate sites, as you say). Nonetheless, we could solve the random pages problem on the ArchWiki (and the search one, more importantly) with the implementation of this plan, which in turn requires FS#35545, which is in turn being discussed in this talk page.

Thanks for the information, and the forum etiquette page. I'll start new threads for that sort of thing now.
It's good to hear something about the issue, though.
