ia32-libs

Where can I get ia32-libs from?  I looked on Google, all I could find are .deb and .rpm files, and the AUR doesn't explain how to get it from AUR, just how to use the AUR, which is pretty simple it appears,  ia32-libs is the 32Bit Compatibility Libraries, I'm using Archlinux 64. thanks !

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: ia32-libs

What do I need? There's no ia32-libs, but there are so many lib32's, not sure what I need now, =/.  I try to run xampp for Linux, it gives this : XAMPP is currently only availably as 32 bit application. Please use a 32 bit compatibility library for your system. What can I use to make that message go away?  There's probably 50 apps for lib32, thanks !

Re: ia32-libs

How did you install XAMPP? You can get it from the AUR:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=14141

For 64-bit the two additional dependencies (mentioned in the PKGBUILD) are lib32-glibc and gcc-libs-multilib.

Re: ia32-libs

Why do want to use XAMPP on 64bit with 32bit libraries when you can use Apache+PHP+MySQL+phpMyAdmin? hmm

LOL, kinda late for that, Xampp is up and running, smile.  I got Lampp from xampp.com, for some reason it's called xampp and not lampp.  Thanks though.

Because, xampp was easy to install, and less of a headache, I'm too lazy to do all that extra apache, php, mysql, and phpmyadmin crap, LOL..  Sorry, I'll admit, I'm lazy, so I tend to take the lazy way out, and besides, I got Xampp working anyway.

Re: ia32-libs

im installing xampp as well.  i used it before on a windows machine, then went ahead and did the laborious installatio of apache/mysql/php5.3/slimftp/phpmyadmin/PEAR, made custom log readers, kept re-editing httpd.conf file.... it IS alot of work, and takes days. or min 8 hrs straight, lol. oh, and alot of days following for edits to get everything just right, atleast for the  first couple times.

so i looked at the note on the lamp wiki, and it mentioned for just development and testing try xampp / easier.  since im relatively new at linux, i thought i would start there, xampp (lampp)  i had to install the gcc-libs and multilib as well, since im on 64bit, i just had to instll sudo as well, since it looks like theres no mainstream package on the AUR's for this package, is there?  atleast not on core/extra/community unless im looking for wrong file name.   so i guess sudo is the way to do it, file just downloaded, here it goes.

Re: ia32-libs

i think i just have my terminology mixed up.  i did see it, because i downloaded it, and successfully installed it last night.

what i was i couldnt find it in the "packages" that are located in the Arch Repository under the packages link, so that i could isntall it with my "package" manager.   its the first program i had to use sudo for on my archlinux box.  i have used sudo before on ubuntu, but not on arch.

so what is the difference between a package that is listed on the AUR but needs to be download offsite and isntalled with sudo,  and one that can be installed with a package manager.  i am just new to the terminology, im sure im missing something blatantly obvious. Can somebody help me connect the dots, and clarify the terminology here?

Re: ia32-libs

thanks for the link. ok, i see, i did read that entire document last week, i have been pouring over documentation.  so i would have to compile a package for it.  i was aiming for a ready made package such as xampp so i can install using pacman, so i didnt have to spend an extraordinary amount of time on it.  Otherwise i would just install apache, mysql, php all seperately. i will do that next time for sure!  i want to stick with these types of packages until i clear my plate with all the other things i am learning and make sure i know the system well.  i learn quick, so im sure ill be compiling soon enough.

first i need to upgrade my vid driver,  then i will enjoy my new archlinux testing server for a while as i catch up on some development work thats falling behind.  then i will start messing with compiling packages and using the AUR as a resource.
