Stuck at KDE login, after upgrading

I just upgraded my pc. After I finished, I rebooted my computer. However, the KDE can not  started.
It gave me the following the error: /var/log/error.log

Abnormal termination of greeter for display...
kdm received unknown or unexpected command from greeter...

Then, I comment GreeterUID=kdm in /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc

Then, I restarted the KDE, it started succussfully. However, now when i try to login(kdm), the screen goes black for a second and just returns back to the login screen.

I check the /var/log/error.log and it gives me this error:

Cannot load /usr/share/apps/kdm/faces/.default.face: No such file or directory

I check this folder, and I found it does not exist.

Any help would be appreaciated. I am working on an eassy, which should be submitted by tomrrow.

Re: Stuck at KDE login, after upgrading

Well, I don't have an immediate solution, but maybe I can get you through tomorrow.

First, stop KDE (well KDM) like you did, just don't restart it.
Log in, as your user, to a console.
enter the command startkde
