Resuming from s2ram -f freezes Toshiba Satellite

About 1 in every 10 times that I resume from an s2ram -f, which is what is needed to bring my laptop down into standby, my computer will completely freeze. If I can see htop while this happens, it reads that 100% of one cpu core out of four is being used by the kernel. I can't check anything else at this point because my computer will be frozen. I have a Toshiba Satellite L635 and run arch i686. Please ask for any more information if it's needed. I'll be very grateful if anyone can help me out here.

When it doesn't freeze, what are the cpu levels like? Also, do you happen to run anything known to be unstable or games when you standby?

Did you check the log files? At first I would suggest you look into the files starting with pm_, which are in particular relevant to suspend/resume. If there is nothing relevant in them, check messages.log.
