Browser Sound Malfunction

My system fails to produce sound in any browser, on any site.  This is not just a flash specific problem.  Sound functions correctly with any other program.

Assuming you're using ALSA, have you tried the troubleshooting section on the wiki page?

Blacklisting the oss emulation modules would be a good place to start.
