[SOLVED] pulseaudio, external usb soundcard too low volume

Hi!

The jack plug on my built-in sound card in my notebook doesn't work so I have to use an external one via a USB port.
Since I bought it I only used Windows and it worked fine, but when yesterday I finally made a nice Arch Linux, I wanted to listen some music, I plugged in my sound card with my speakers, but it was terribly quiet. The built-in speaker is fine... or actually it's too loud.
I thought I made a mistake, tho I've done everything according to the wiki (begginer's guide, pulseaudio, gnome 3). First I thought it's because of gnome 3 so I tried it on an openSUSE live cd with gnome 2 and Fedora 15 prerelease with gnome 3, but it was the same.

Since all of these use pulseaudio (afaik) I think it's the reason, but I haven't found anything in the forums or the wikis.

Can anyone tell me what I should do with it to work correctly?

Check all volume controls with alsamixer, some usb headsets (and I guess some usb cards) have an extra volume control that pulse doesn't seem recognize/use and it is usually initialized with a low volume, just raise it to the maximum and everything should work as expected.

I didn't think changing volume in pulse won't be enough...
