Hello guys,
Today I got my new Arctic Sound P311 headset which I'd like to use completely in A2DP mode because of the better sound quality.
However I can't select the P311 as my record device via the Gnome sound manager when I'm in A2DP mode. The microphone works only when choosing HSP/HFP profile.
Two screenshots that should clarify my problem.
Thank you in advance.
Regards

Out of curiosity, are you using pulse audio for this?

I discover another problem besides the missing record functionality.
When using the A2DP profile, playing music really lags after a while when I paused the music and hence the headset was unused.
Is there some kind of standby mode for the connection? When I reconnect my headset, it's working again flawlessly.

Same problem, but audio starts lagging and stuttering even when just playing music for some time.
Nokia BH-503 headset (works flawlessly with ubuntu and android), pulseaudio, gnome3 GUI for bluetooth and audio.
How to test it, and if this is a bug, how to catch it?

That's because A2DP is meant only for one-way communication. You can't use microphone in A2DP mode, technically impossible.

Ah really?
Could it then be possible to enable both profiles simultaneously?
So, let's say H2DP for the mircophone output and A2DP for the sound output?
I think phones switch between H2DP and A2DP depends if you're listening music or making a call. Perhaps something similar could be implemented, e. g. switch to H2DP if microphone is in use.

Each service under the A2DP profile gives a unidirectional transfer of an audio stream. This is sufficient to have a microphone audio stream, and there is provision in the A2DP profile to identify a source as a microphone (amongst others). Additional A2DP services, such as those carrying audio to headphones, can exist alongside.
