Problem with nvidia [SOLVED]

Hello. My almost 1st time with linux and i have problems with installing xfce4. I assume that problem is with nvidia drivers. My card is Gforce4 420 Go 32M. Actually I even don't know how to check is the driver installed correctly. When I try startxfce4 i got few error messages witch i can't copy here, because it's on another laptop.. But the end of all is something like this:

FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.38-ARCH/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko.gz) : No such device
(EE) NVIDIA: Failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module. Please check your system's kernel log for additional error messages.
(EE) Failed to load module "nvidia" (module-specific error, 0)
(EE) No drivers available.

Have no idea how to get /var/log/Xorg.0.log here, it would take all night to rewrite it..

or what should I do to get more help please.

with all the best,
Mike

Re: Problem with nvidia [SOLVED]

You need the nvidia-96xx driver for your graphic card. The problem is, this driver was recently removed from Arch because it's not compatible with xorg-server-1.10. You'll have to wait for nvidia to release an updated driver from the 96xx branch, then it'll be put into Arch again. Or you fetch xorg-server-1.9 and other accompanying stuff (input drivers, and nvidia-96xx/nvidia-96xx-utils) from Arch Wayback Machine. Or you switch to the nouveau driver.
