Hi everybody,
Here is my problem. I have been using an hp zv5000 laptop for several years now and been running linux on it since the begining. It has a broacom wireless card. I remembert several years ago I tried to use it and manage to use it with ndiswrapper (under mandrake I think). Now I moved and I need to use it again. I tried with b43 legacy the card is up and I can scan network but could not connect (time out while probing the router).
As I still had the windows driver that used to work with ndiswrapper I tried it. Here is the strange thing.
the output of ndiswrapper -l

How come ssb is still in use? I blacklisted it in rc.conf? lspci -vv shows that the kernel driver in use is ndiswrapper but the kernel module is ssb... Getting confused.

What is fun is that this set up has worked for some times but from today I couldn't connect anymore the error is:
dmesg output
ndiswrapper (set_iw_encr_mode:708): setting encryption mode to 6 failed (C00000BB)
I think one solution would be to use the windows driver I have but how can I remove ssb?? rmmod ssb says that the device doesn't exist, modprobe -r ssb gives no output... Do I have to blacklist it somewhere else??
Thanks for any help, now I have to run a cable along all the house and my wife gets angry

I just found a way of removing that cable. I created another essid with a WEP security instead of WPA. It solved the issue...
However if someone could explain me how come ssb is still in use. Cause I wouls prefer to use WPA and I want to know why it is failing. Linux is fun cause there is always a reason to the failure and often it is fixable
