Hi,
I just installed Arch (x86_64) on a new computer. I don't plan on updating it often so I thought I'd try the LTS Kernel. Now during startup the computer reboots. I can still use the system with the standard (now "fallback") kernel.
How can I begin troubleshooting this?
Thanks

How far does it get in the boot? Describe the series of events.

After GRUB I see the usual scroll of white text. It freezes for a moment (I can't see any sign of an error) then it reboots.

sounds like and an acpi issue. try to boot with acpi=off.

I tried that but had the same issue. I then (stupidly) realised that I needed to update my GRUB menu.lst manually (add -"lts" in a few places) and now it works fine. I wonder why my previous kernel did not boot after just installing the LTS one.
