I might be buying a ssd drive tonight, I just need to make sure it's compatible with arch.

Yes, of course, it's just a hard drive.
HOWEVER - there are three versions. The -128GB is the oldest (2008/2009). Newer ones are -*GBP1/P2/PE. Don't get an old SSD. The technology advances too fast to waste your money on an old generation.
