I reinstalled Arch from a 64bit to a 32 bit. The printer was working perfectly on the 64, but i can't get it to work anymore. It prints a test page just fine, but when i try to print from libreoffice, it prints more than 10 pages of crap, e.g:
exch 2 index exch get 1 string dup 0 4 -1 roll put current point 3 -1
That is just 1 line, the whole page is just filled with crap, all of the pages.

So i looked at the conf files, turns out i was using the 1250 driver, which works perfectly. However, it doesn't support 1250 dpi (not that important)

rp181, I have the same printer and struggle to set it up. I follow the direction from this wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Cr … er_drivers to install 2240 driver from Brother but it prints crap. Can you share how do you set yours up? Thanks.

I have an HL-2230 (looks like the same thing). I tried to get it set up for hours with the drivers from Brother, best I could do was get it to print a test page.
I tried the foomatic drivers for the HL-2030 model and it worked without any hassle. That would be my recommendation before messing around with the ones from Brother.

I finally got my Brother HL-2240 to work. I have to install all the foomatic packages and hplip, then choose "Brother HL-2140 Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e" driver.
