Hey all,
My PC at work has an old Radeon 7000/VE video adapter
(lspci output: 04:09.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV100 QY [Radeon 7000/VE])
I used it with VGA to my monitor for a while (the monitor is a Dell 22" 1920x1080 widescreen) and it worked fine but text was pretty blurry and it was starting to strain my eyes so I figured I'd stop being lazy and use the DVI output rather than the VGA output. I noticed something was probably up when KMS would normally come on, and the resolution (rather than going to native resolution) went to something like 1280x1024. When Gnome fired up, I looked at the Monitors tool, and here are the available resolutions:
1280x1024
1152x864
1024x768
800x600
640x480
720x400
Since it worked fine on VGA I'm not sure why it wouldn't work on DVI. I am using the Radeon driver xf86-video-ati, I tried it using both the late start and the early start methods, just to see if it'd make a difference, and it doesn't really. Thanks!
