i managed to install gnome 3 following the archwiki, but now grub is set to boot (normal and failsafe) in read-only, ive been having to edit grub and change the boot setting "ro" to "rw" and then it warns me about doing severe damage to my partition but it boots ok after that... any ideas?

Hey, I am prety sure that it has nothing todo with gnome, but in ordner to update gnome you successfully updated your whole system to testing. I am not on testing myself so I cant actually help with your problem

Is it grub or grub2? Anyway it's ro in both cases, e.g. kernel /vmlinuz26 root=/dev/sda3 ro

sorry guys it had nothing to do with gnome3 or grub.. it was just that i added the option utf8 to fstab and it was giving an error at boot, it seems that option isnt recognized anymore and i wanted cause there are folders wich were missing characters... i just removed it and now it boots normally!
