Re: May 2011 Screenshots

I didn't like Gnome 3 so I did something about it.   Here is my new Xfce4 desktop.   I'm using Avant-Window-Navigator-bzr (from the aur) and conky.   Mpd music info disappears when music isn't playing.  In the top right corner of the screen, it will tell me when Arch and AUR updates are ready (using paconky).

th_xfce4-1.png

The taskbar may look sort of big, but with AWN's 'intellihide' setting, anytime a window overlaps it, it disappears, and pops back out when the window is moved away or closed, as seen here:

th_xfce4-2.png

I like it because the desktop looks great, and yet completely gets out of the way when I'm using my web-browser, etc.

Neat. AWN seems to have come a really long way. Your conky is pretty neat too. Dynamic environments ftw!

What font is this? I feel I see it everywhere.

I've just installed Arch on my main machine now after my laptop with arch on it died, so no screenshot yet.

Profont. It's in the repos.
Actually, I prefer Montecarlo, though. It's very close, but looks a little "smoother" (as far as that's possible for a pixel font). That one's in the AUR.

Wow, that looks great.  Can you share your colors for both the bar and the terminals?

Pretty much the standard subtle config, just modified some colours here and there:

# Style for focus window title
style :title do
  padding 0, 3
  border "#303030", 0
  foreground "#fecf35"
  background "#202020"
end

# Style for the active views
style :focus do
  padding 0, 3
  border "#303030", 0
  foreground "#fecf35"
  background "#202020"
end

# Style for urgent window titles and views
style :urgent do
  padding 0, 3
  border "#303030", 0
  foreground "#ff9800"
  background "#202020"
end

# Style for occupied views (views with clients)
style :occupied do
  padding 0, 3
  border "#303030", 0
  foreground "#b8b8b8"
  background "#202020"
end

# Style for view buttons
style :views do
  padding 0, 3
  border "#303030", 0
  foreground "#757575"
  background "#202020"
end

# Style for sublets
style :sublets do
  padding 0, 3
  border "#303030", 0
  foreground "#757575"
  background "#202020"
end

# Style for separator
style :separator do
  padding 0, 3
  border 0
  background "#202020"
  foreground "#757575"
end

# Style for active/inactive windows
style :clients do
  active "#303030", 2
  inactive "#202020", 2
  margin 0
  width 50
end

# Style for subtle
style :subtle do
  margin 0, 0, 0, 0
  panel "#202020"
  background "#3d3d3d"
  stipple "#757575"
end

And for the terminal, use font colour #fecf35, with Droid Sans Mono
