Empathy msn file transfers

So, according to this page http://telepathy.freedesktop.org/wiki/P … %20Support empathy is able to send and receive file transfers with the msn protocol.

Thing is, when I try to send a file my friend wont see it and I will just get a "waiting for [insert friend name here] to accept"

This also happens the other way around, if a friend tries to send a file to me, he will just wait forever until I accept, but I dont get any window asking me.

Whats wrong? I was a pidgin user but since gnome 3 came out I fell in love with the empathy integration in gnome3, maybe there is something I am missing?

thanks in advance for the help

Re: Empathy msn file transfers

No one with this problem or is it just that no one uses empathy with msn?

Re: Empathy msn file transfers

Hi 655321

Well, since the last time I used empathy, I can't remember if I used the utility to send files through the msn protocol. One is sure: through the xmmp/Jabber protocol it works...

Now I'm using pidgin. If I find some spare time this week, I will give it a try.

I'll get back on you.

Re: Empathy msn file transfers

Just tested it now. It doesn't work.

Situation:

Receiving client: Pidgin on Arch x86_64
Sending client: Empathy on Ubuntu 11.04 i686

FIle: screenshot.png (screenshot of the standard Desktop of Ubuntu)

Protocol: MSN

1. Chose "Send File" in the context menu.
2. Receving Client gets a Message to confirm the transfer
3. After accepting it, the transfer stops with an error "The file transfer was cancelled".

It seems to be a problem with the telepathy-butterfly package?

Re: Empathy msn file transfers

All my friends are from Windows Live Messenger, so the steps to reproduce the error are a little different here:

Receiving client: Windows Live Messenger
Sending client: Empathy on Arch 64 bit

FIle: test.txt

Protocol: MSN

1. Chose "Send File" in the context menu.
2. Receving Client NEVER gets Message to approve/reject the transfer
3. Sending client transfer status stays at "waiting for user to accept".

Maybe this a bug?
