Maybe you should consider loading it manually then if its not autodetected.

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

Modprobe snd-hda-intel produces no result.

Alsaconf fails to find a soundcard.....its a realtek alc662.rev1 as part of the mobo.

Kde reports realtekalc662 does not work.

EDIT:  Works in CTKArchLive.........................

Alsaconf reports : .....no soundcard.

Alsamixer shows :   Hda Intel Master  and PCM both open and at near max levels.

Alsa is in deamons.............

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

Which modules are loaded in CTKArchLive (ldmod | grep snd)? Maybe an alias or option in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf would be necessary

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

Your command produced no data response...bash error...

Find that I can connect to USB device and get sound at this time.  The hda-intel still fails to respond.

alsamixer looks normal for hda=intel but no sound.

Attempted to use kde multimedia to establish hda-intel to no avail.

The usb device works OK.

Kde reports hda-intel does not work.

Upgraded to latest kernel today and the situation remains the same.

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

Dmesg data from HDD archlinux latest kernel:

root@n6re ~]# dmesg | grep hda
[    5.540387] hda_codec: ALC662 rev1: BIOS auto-probing
[root@n6re ~]#

Will post the same data from CTK later........

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

In CTK dmesg |grep hda..... returns nothing.

In CTK, lsmod |grep snd lists the same as archlinux HDD lsmod.  Since it is read-only, I am not aware of how to copy the result in the root display.

Note another post regarding the hda fail refers to a change that subverts the hda codec

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

Take a look at this thread : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=114524

when you get down to post #12 (an amazingly insightful post, IMHO tongue) you wound need to modify that with the vendor and product number of your PCI sound card.  You can find that using lspci.  Find the bus address of the sound card, then run lspci again with the -n option to get the Vendor and Product numbers

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

Okay, what is the output of lspci -n | grep 00:1b.0  ??
It should contain two 4 digit hexadecimal numbers separated with a :.  The first should be 8086  (That is Intel's Vendor ID), the second number is the product ID

That is the number you want to include in the line that you add to /var/tmp/alsaconf.cards

The line will be of the form :
PCI: 0x8086=0xYYYY where YYYY is the product number ID

Note that the alsaconf.cards file will only exist after you have run alsacoonf for the first time as root (which you have already done)

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

So.....

What happens when you add the line PCI: 0x8086=0x27d8 to the file /var/tmp/alsaconf.cards, and then re-run alsaconf??

edit: fixed typo

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

ran PCI:0x0403 in /var/tmp/listing and reran alsaconf.

This produced a sound card for hda intel.

Tested the sound by calling alsamixer and F6 to select hda intel.

No sound from hda intel and not muted.

Your latest info indicates I need a different PCI: which I will try....

Re: Kde reports no snd-hda-intel card installed (Solved)

Installed your new info for PCI

Result was a selection for hda sound card in alsaconf.

Tried alsamixer which reported no such mixer.

No sound from hda intel mobo port.

No sound from vlc selection.
