Too slow computer for Gnome 3 ?

Do I have too much slow computer athlon xp 2600+ 1.91ghz 720ram nv5500 to run Gnome 3 ?
gdm does not load in 1 minute so I canceled
Lxdm allows to load gnome3, but its so slow that I more wait then work with the pc...

(Kde4 is good, but after time it started to be slow.)

Your hardware is not good enough for gnome3 as they intended. Why don't you try some alternatives - like XFCE, Openbox or a tilling wm.

I kind of sticked with xfce, but it got broken, there are no window borders to drag windows(close minimize maximize) and I can not write text to the windows like run command and others, but I can write web address in firefox.
So I had to try LXDE, it was the fastest wm I had, but it is getting slow, the same like kde.

Its starting to have problems with playing a videos by vlc media player.... its crazy I would say. . .
There is one thing definite, that my pc has lost its power, its not like the first time I got it.
Id like to try awesome wm, but how could I ever create a configuration file about it.
