moving from heimdal to krb5, but why?

I saw the mailing talking about moving from heimdal to krb5.
Is there going to any difference? is krb5 better? if so, why?

Re: moving from heimdal to krb5, but why?

I think heimdal isn't much maintained upstream these days, but MIT krb5 is. It's unfortunate, since heimdal was always the one with the features. In the current situation, I agree with the move.

It's also nice that more software supports MIT's API than heimdal's.

Re: moving from heimdal to krb5, but why?

For those that, like me, want to read some of the reasoning behind the change, the best information I could find on this was here:

Are there any other posts that help explain the move?
