[SOLVED] Gdm fails to start after upgrade

I have updated system today (pacman -Syu) for the first time since 04-30-11. After the update gdm fails to start. At load screen blinks several times and I have messages like:

gdm-binary[2905]: WARNING: GdmDisplay: display lasted x seconds
(...)
WARNING: GdmLocalDisplayFactory: Maximum number of X display failures reached: check X server for errors

The Xorg.log does not containg any errors however.

If I try to start gdm via /etc/rc.d/gdm start, I have

** (gdm-binary:4216): WARNING **: Failed to acquire org.gnome.DisplayManager
** (gdm-binary:4216): WARNING **: Could no acquire name; bailing out

I'm still able to start x server by startx but only with one of the users. The only difference between the users is the one which is able to start X server has a wheel privilege and uid=1000.

be sure you have dconf 0.7.4-2

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: [SOLVED] Gdm fails to start after upgrade

Thanks, it helped! I was still with dconf 0.7.4-1 version. I did tried several other mirrors before posting to make sure that everything is up to date. Apparently at the moment from about 20 I have uncommented only the official archlinux.org mirror has this package! I do not use it on daily basis due to it's transfer limitations...

Same issue. Upgrading to dconf 0.7.4-2 fixed it (I was previously at dconf 0.7.4-1).

Thanks!

That's strange, I have dconf 0.7.5-1 and I'm still getting this error.

I don't know if all the steps are needed (and possibly they aren't), but I solved the problem by reinstalling xorg, then installed xorg-xdm, then reinstalled gdm (yes, with xdm installed...) and then it worked.
