i was thinking about wildcards in pacman... searched a bit but nothing found...
someone somewhere said it doesnt support wildcards and i know it doesnt supprot * or ? but nothing else? like {} or anything?

-s, --search <regexp>
Search each locally-installed package for names or descriptions that
match regexp. When including multiple search terms, only packages with
descriptions matching ALL of those terms are returned.
regexp == Regular Expressions, plenty of relevant info available about that.

I hate to be pedantic, but i think its important to distinguish here. * and ? are not regex expressions, they're globbing characters. Searching for foo* will work, but it's not really searching for what you want (fo, followed by 0 or many additional 'o' characters). additionally, pacman supports the full POSIX extended regex grammar, which is documented in glorious detail by the section 7 manpage 'regex'.
