X.org on eMachines e525 is very bad!

Ok now I write perfect inglish. So ..

When I do pacman -Suy (it upgrades xorg too) and after that I restart the PC, the backlight is turned off and I cant turn it on. It's hard to explain now because I were pissed on to see black screen. I have switched now to ubuntu but I feel sick if I see this OS. In fact there's the same problem. But a long time ago I know how to solve the problem but now I forgot .. I only remember that if I wanted to change backlight level it has changed in a changed way (like 10 , 1 , 2, 3 etc.).

I hope you can help me.

Regards, Dennis (the Menace)

PS. I have ONLY changed settings in X and in GRUB

Have you tried any of the methods from the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Backlight ?

Of course, to use karol's suggestion, you have to be able to see what you are doing.

Did you know you can use can make a backlit display work like a transflective display by shinning a bright light on it from off-axis ? (arrange it so you minimize the glare back in your direction)
-or-
you can ssh in from another machine (if you had set it up for that previously)

I thought more like good ol' liveUSB + chroot but if the trick with the bright light works, all the better :-)
