Slow internet after updates

I did a big batch of updates the other week and the internet has been slower since.
Config files are up to date
Consolekit is a couple versions old because the wireless breaks if I use the new version.
Files download MUCH faster on my other less up to date arch machine, my download speed on my main machine is <30KB/s, so its painfull.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, if I can't fix this soon I'll have to reformat my machine.

Re: Slow internet after updates

It could be anything. It's good to start with checking if you have the same hostname in /etc/rc.conf and /etc/hosts. Maybe pacman has overwritten your rc.conf or something.

Re: Slow internet after updates

Hostnames are fine. I think it is because consolekit is an old version. But if I update it my wireless breaks. I guess I'll have to try a different distro unless anyone has a workaround.

Re: Slow internet after updates

fixed consolekit but internet is still a crawl.

I think it is an issue with the backend because internet is still slow in a virtual machine using this system as a host.

Re: Slow internet after updates

Chances are the problem is with the wireless connection.

Is the other machine using the same wireless connection ?
What is the internet speed  if you connect the problem machine through a cable ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

I'm also having this problem, i've been trying to find a solution but haven't been successful this far. I checked my pacman.log for package which seem suspicious, because i've only been having this problem for 2 days now. But I can't really figure which could be it:

For me possible candidates are: netcfg, kernel, glib-networking,nss. Any ideas?

Re: Slow internet after updates

I had the same problem with my wireless connection. I solved it by downgrading netcfg to the previous version (2.5.4).

Re: Slow internet after updates

My internet has been really slow lately also.... I've spent the last couple hours updating kernels, downgrading kernel, netcfg, wifi drivers then I accidently
came across a package in AUR  aur/netcfg-rt73
seems to add support for Ralink chipsets with netcfg.............. I have never had a problem with my chipset and netcfg until now...  netcfg lost support for ralink after 2.0????
dunno... but it seems to work fine for me now
